Rajshahi -way back home-

It has been a long time since I wrote about Rajshahi trip last time.
However, to end the trip I write the last article for this trip.

I left Rajshahi by train whose name is Silkcity Express.
It leaves 7:20 from Rajshahi railway station.
The train won't be late because it starts from Rajshahi.
This is compartment for 4 passengers.
(Can you see a girl's head over a man in white cloth?)
This most expensive seat costed 725tk.

This compartment is used as sleeper at night, but passangers sit downside during the day.
What's special for this compartment?
You can go up to upper bed, lay down and sleep.
The first one can take the place.
That was me, in this case.
This is seat in AC car.
It seems quite comfortable.

Of course, food is availabe on the train.
For breakfast,

Bread               15tk
Fried Chiken    40tk
Chiken cutlet    30tk
--------------------------
one plate           80tk

For lunch and dinner, the same as above!
If you don't want to eat oily stuff in the morning, better to bring food with you.
I had bread with me, so only had a cup of tea.
Snacks are also available.
It is interesting people come and go with many kinds of things.
Journey from Rajshahi to Dhaka was short since I could sleep.
Huge amount of energy is necessary to travel in Bangladesh.
I recommend train journey not only to enjoy, but also to save some energy.

I finish writing trip to Bogra and Rajshahi here.
Thank you for traveling together!

Puthia

Puthia is Hindu village located 1 hour by bus from Rajshahi.

To take right bus, you have to keep shouting "Puthia Puthia!!"
People let you get the bus.
Then, please keep saying "Puthia Puthia!"
People let you get off the bus at right place.

Taking Bangali(bicycle with board where you can get on) 10 minutes,
Siva Temple suddenly appeared.
It was impressive.

Then, this is Rajbari(Old lord's house).
Playground is spread in front where boys played Cricket.
 Opposite of the field, Dolmancha.

Guide book told tourist could go inside, but we couldn't.

Behind Rajibali, Pancharanta Govinda Temple
Terra cotta of Hindu temples in Puthia was beautiful.

This is Govinda Temple, looks pretty.
There was remain of some building on water. It must be perfect place for kids to play!
(I just didn't want to go with my camera.....)
A big pond is in the center of village reflect the scene of village.
It was too hot to stroll around, but atmosphere is relaxing and make me feel stay there.
Only 1 hour from Rajshahi, you can't miss it.

Ummm.....surely they have big garden, or even walking path on their property.
Unexpectedly, stylish corridor!

This is AC twin room for 2200tk.
Bathroom is somehow pretty.
The only problem is "hot shower" was actually "warm shower".

However, overall my stay was confortable.

Rajshahi - Silk Factory -

Rajshahi is so famous for silk that the city is called "Silk city".
(though I haven't heard anyone calls so)

There is area where many silk factories gather.
I visited one of them and asked if they can show me inside.
A staff kindly took me tour inside.
So, let see the process to make silk sally.

Of course, start from silk worm.
He took some and brought close to me......which made me run away.
Cocoon in silkworm net.
Then, cocoons are boied.
A woman takes silk from boied coccoons.

Silk was taken to machine with help of women.

Any idea what it is?
This big bobbin is for weaving machine.

This process is coloring.
Silk is going to be dyed.
on the roof

A staff has hearing disability.
He seems working like others with weaving machine.
In the factory, anyway you can't hear anything.
I was happy to see one example that person with disability works.

After factory visit, get suvenior?
In the store, colorful sally, sally, sally.......
Silk sally is over my budget, but my friend got one for 5000tk.
It was very beautiful.

Staff may not speak English, but will kindly show you in the factory.
Each factory has their shop, so you can also go around for shopping.
I personally enjoyed a lot to see inside the factory......except the worm!!

Rajshahi

A week has passed since I started writing about this Bogra-Rajshahi trip.
We reached Rajshahi!
It locates 3 aways from Bogra by bus.

The first thing to surprise me is clean and paved road.
 It doesn't seem Bangladesh!!
Though you find Rickshaw on the road.

As we arrived at Rajshahi, we went to see Podda river(Ganges river).
Along the river, snack stands and chairs are found.
But surprisingly, garbage isn't found.

I eat garbage!!

It was a little early for sunset, but we took a boat.
I was afraid that we would be demanded crazy price, but it was 50tk for each.
(Though first price was 150tk for 2 persons)
Feeling wind on the boat was good.
When we turn to back the garden, sky was gaining color.

It was about 10 minutes ride, but enough to enjoy a short boat trip.
We shared the boat with 3 more Bengali boys.
There would be more people before sunset.
If you prefer quiet boat trip, you may reserve the boat for yourself.
My friend succeeded in taking 1 hour trip for 200tk.(depends on your bargaining skill!)

After boat ride, went to "Coffee Bar" in Podda Garden.

Have a cup of black coffee on the third floor.
I hadn't had drink without sugar(except water) on the trip.
My friend ordered Lassi.
Coffee was 30tk and Lassi was 50tk.
Lassi in Bangladesh tastes totally Doi(yogurt)!
I like it, of course.
If you go west along the river, you will find one more cafe "Master Shef".
Next day I ordered Lassi there, but unfortunately didn't get to see outside well.
Only, Lassi was 10tk cheaper than "Coffee bar".

Many people rally to riverside in the evening.
Seeing sunset seems their reisure.
People stay, talk and eat snacks even late at night.
I can't do that, so went to restaurant for dinner around 6.
(which is still "snack time" for Bengali people)

"Chili's"
What is surprising for this Air-Conditioned restaurant?
They have English menu!!
It helps foreign tourists a lot.

My co-worker reccomended fishes in Rajshahi from Podda river.
So, I ordered Irish fish (National fish).
Irish fish is expensive fish, but cheaper than one in Dhaka.
It costed 120tk.
Yes, tasty....only if small born doesn't attack me.

I stop writing here.
Next time, I will introduce silk factory.
